OUR BUITEN is taking a big step towards sustainability with the installation of SieStar C10 battery storage. Read how this collaboration optimises their energy management and how the successful deployment during Trekkertrek was the deciding factor.
OUR BUITEN, a campsite with a strong focus on sustainability, recently chose to install the SieStar C10 battery energy storage system (BESS) as part of their energy optimisation. This smart and scalable storage system allows ONS BUITEN to make their energy consumption more sustainable and better managed, with a direct impact on both cost savings and carbon footprint.
The SieStar C10 container, with a storage capacity of 430 kWh (expandable to 645 kWh) and an output of 187.5 kW (expandable in 62.5 kW increments), uses an advanced Energy Management System (EMS). This system offers versatile capabilities, including peak shaving, load shifting and even the ability to trade on the energy market, using the campsite's energy consumption in the most efficient way.
ONS BUITEN has been committed to sustainability for years and has taken numerous measures to reduce their ecological impact. From small initiatives such as using ecological cleaning products and promoting biodiversity to larger investments in energy efficiency, the campsite continuously strives to be as green a business as possible. Their sustainable policies have earned them the highest GreenKey certification (GOLD) and a nomination for the ADAC Camping Awards 2022 in the category ‘sustainability and environmental awareness’.
The choice of the SieStar C10 BESS fits in perfectly with this. By optimising energy management, OUR OUTSIDE can not only reduce their peak loads, but also contribute to the stability of the local power grid. This means that the campsite not only contributes to sustainability, but can also save significantly on energy consumption and costs.
The decision to cooperate with SieStar was prompted by the C10's excellent performance at the recent Trekkertrek event in Aagtekerke. Here, the C10 was deployed as an off-grid solution and performed flawlessly, being managed autonomously by the local electricity service. This successful demonstration of reliability and flexibility gave ONS BUITEN the confidence to deploy the SieStar C10 as their main energy storage system.
